Massey Knakal negotiates sale of five-story Manhattan apartment building

Massey Knakal Realty Services sold a five-story elevatored apartment building at 62-64 East 34th Street in the Murray Hill neighborhood of Manhattan for $13.5 million.

Massey Knakal's Vice Chairman John Ciraulo exclusively represented the seller, Dr. Alexander Pireno. Laurence Roberts of Arch Brokerage LTD was also involved in the transaction. The buyer was BFC Developers.

The 17,200 square foot "Dickerson" building at 62-64 sits on the south side of 34th Street between Park and Madison Avenues. It was fully occupied at the time of sale with two stores on the ground floor, a commercial office as well as rent stabilized apartments and eight free market apartments. According to a 1991 New York Times article, the building dates back to 1879 and is one of the oldest surviving buildings in the city.

A former computer engineer from New Jersey, Mr. Ciraulo joined Massey Knakal in 1993 and was named partner in 1998. He specializes in the Murray Hill, Flatiron, Gramercy Park neighborhoods.
