3/3/2008Providence's "Superman Building" sells for $33.2M

Oakbrook, Ill.-based Inland Real Exchange Corp. has sold the "Superman Building" in Providence, R.I., for $33.2 million to High Rock Westminster Street, LLC. Associates from NAI Hunneman brokered the deal. The 26-story building is located at 111 Westminster St. in downtown Providence. Built in 1927, it spans 350,000 square feet and currently has Charlotte-based financial services giant, Bank of America as its only tenant. The tower is known as the "Superman Building" because of its resemblance of the Daily Planet building in the 1950s television series. Inland Real Exchange is a subsidiary of the Inland Real Estate Group of Companies, a real estate investment and services firm. The company offers property development and management as well as brokerage and lending services. Inland operates real estate investment trusts and has more than 100 million square feet and $20 billion under management. Address: 111 Westminster St., Providence, R.I.
