No matter what kind of graphic designer you are, your job has to do with the visual presentation of things. Many graphic designers work in print, periodicals, advertising or other related fields. As a graphic designer working in the field of advertising, it is your job to represent the object that you are trying to sell. You want your design to be original, eye-catching yet appropriate to the thing you are trying to represent. Although you have the freedom of working from home with little supervision or interruption, you also carry the burden of generating ideas on your own, without the type of input that you would generally receive working in a larger organization.

If you are working in web design, you will probably spend a good amount of your day in front of the computer, trying to manipulate the images and type in order to suit the needs of your client. Graphic design can often be difficult and challenging, but most graphic designers would probably tell you that it is also exhilarating and very creative work.
